Conrad Mansion NHS Museum

Description

Young civil war veteran Charles E. Conrad arrived in Fort Benton, Montana Territory in 1868 to start a new life. After making his fortune in shipping and freighting enterprises, Conrad moved his family to the Flathead Valley where he helped found the city of Kalispell. His 1895 home, located on the city’s eastside, was designed by famed Spokane architect Kirtland Cutter who also designed Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park. Tours of the fully appointed Mansion provide the experience of stepping back into the elegance of a bygone era. Enjoy shopping in the Gift Shop filled with antiques, specialty-made items, nostalgic toys, books and Mansion souvenirs.
